Soredemo Machi Wa Mawatteiru - Review Update

Shaft©
Overview
First I wanna point out that I originally mispelled this Anime in my Fall 2010 prediction review.  I had accidently spelt it, Soredemo Machi wa Maqatteriru. Anyway, the story centers around Seaside, a slightly odd maid tea shop in an otherwise ordinary shopping district of a mundane neighborhood in Tokyo. (Despite the addition of maids, Seaside is a traditional maid tea shop, instead of one of the maid cafes made popular elsewhere.) Hotori Arashiyama works at Seaside and daydreams about being a high schol gir detective. Harriet The Spy in Anime form? Sounds about right to me. I'll be looking forward to seeing what end up doing with this show. It has a couple of possibilities. The only fear I have, is that it turns out to be a children's show. With really lame detective parts. Like finding a lost cat or something.

Episode 1
So far there hasn't been a single decitive related thing. It's all about the small maid cafe. The characters in this show are ugly, but I'm thankful for the change in art style. I was getting bored with the same character designs.

Episode 2
Hotori is hopless. She's so childish and stupid. I don't see how she'll ever be a great detective. At least they finally showed something that was dectective related. Which is Hotori enjoyment when it comes to reading mysteries and watching detective shows.

Episode 3
At least the episodes are packed with random useless information.

Wrap Up
The artwork reminds me of Welcome to the NHK. The story itself is lacking. I got bored watching this. I don't think I would recommend it nor will I continue it. I almost fell asleep. They try to hard to be funny and there isn't really an actual storyline. I just had a hard time keeping interested in the show.

My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute! - Review Update

AIC©
Overview
Also known as, Ore No Imouto Ga Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai (Long title, I know). I guess this can also be called, Oreimo for short. Kousaka Kyousuke is an average high school studen who doesn't get along well with his younger sister, the cute and popular Kirino. Then one day he makes a startling discovery: Kirino's secretly an Otaku. Okay. I'll admit. I thought this was just another incest Anime. We really don't need any more of those, but after talking to someone about it, it might actually be more then that. I added Romance to the genre, because that's what it sounds like it's going to be. However, there hasn't actually been anything announced that states it's a Romance. Might actually be an Otaku anime.

Episode 1
Pretty interesting concept. The younger sister has a younger sister fetish. Who would have guessed it? I'm pretty sure the copy of the episode I was watching cut off before the actual end though, so I may have missed something. However, it seems like the entire episode is about the brother finding out about his younger sister's fetish/hobby and deciding to help her hide it from everyone. She also seems to be demanding life counseling. Keep in mind that everyone in town thinks she's perfect and he's a loser. On to the next episode!

Episode 2
This episode covers Kousaka trying to help Kirino find Otaku friends without having her give up her school ones or for them to find out. It's quite an interesting episode. I found the argument about which anime genre was better to be most interesting. On another note, what's up with all these Fall anime shows having every female character blushing in every scene. It's not like they're even blushing, but it's drawn that way. I guess it does kinda make them look cuter, but it's way over done. This has to be the fourth or fifth show I've seen so far that did their art style this way.

Episode 3
This episode is so full of win. There's nothing better then an older brother challenging his overly stubborn father to protect his younger sister. I was cheering for him the entire time. This episode has me hooked on this show.

Wrap Up
Alright, the name of the anime is pretty werid. I was sure it was going to be the incest romance type, but I was completely wrong. It's more of a Slice-of-Life anime with an Otaku theme. For me, it took until the thrid episode to get me hooked. By the end of that episode you'll be rooting for the main character and feel so proud that he had the guts to stick up for his bitchy sister. I recommend this and know that I'll be watching more of this as soon as the episodes come out.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes - Review Update

J.C.Staff©
Overview
The story takes place in an imaginary world in "the Age of Dectectives", where private dectives and phantom thieves overwhelm the cities. It's about four girls who aim to be great detectives. This sounds like One Piece, but with Detectives instead of Pirates. Might be either really good or really bad. Way to early to judge this one right now.

Episode 1
So the show is about four girls who get struck by lightning and loose their special powers that remind me of devil fruit abilities in One Piece. They live in a world where everyone is either a dective or a thief. Well, maybe not everyone, but most people.

Episode 2
These girls are spoiled brats. Now that they're not spoiled, because they lost their powers all they do is fight over stupid stuff. I don't know if I can keep watching this show. It's really stupid. I would like to point out that for a children's show the credits are really pervy.

Episode 3
In this episode they play twister to get their powers back. Did it work or was it a fluke? Only real way is to keep watching the show.

Wrap Up
This show is a good show for 10 year old girls. However the spoiled brats and concent fighting over stupid shit makes me never want to watch another episode of this show again. I don't recommend it to anyone, unless you're like a young tween girl.

The World God Only Knows - Review Update

Manglobe©
Overview
Katsuragi Keima is a god at eroge games, while in real life he hates all real girls. However he is approached by a devil, Elsee, from to help her in catching runaway spirits that hide in people. Apparently the spirits only hide in the hearts of girls and the only way to get the souls out is by making the girls fall in love so the spirit gets forced out. Someone told me to read this Manga a long time ago. I told them I did, but the truth is, I only bookmarked it. Surprising to me, they're doing an Anime now. Which gives me an excuse to also check out the Manga. I'm super interested in this one, because it just sounds insanely funny and ironic. I will enjoy doing a full review once the show finishes.

Episode 1
This episode was super entertaining. This is probably the best Parody Anime show I've ever seen. It makes sense in a weird sort ofway. This episode is pretty much about him trying to have the girl fall for him to make an evil spirit escape from her heart. At the end of each conquest the girl looses all memory relating to it, but it seems her feelings remain. I think that would be weird to randomly be in love with someone, but not know why.

Episode 2
I thought each episode would be a different conquest, but it doesn't look like it. This episode carries over to the next. Meaning, some girls are a lot harder for him to "conqure" than others. This was a pretty funny episode. Elsee, the demon girl, is trying to win her place as his "little sister", and even convinces his Mother. So funny.

Episode 3
All I have to say about this episode is when they capture the loose souls, it reminds me of Ghost Busters.

Wrap Up
This show is as funny as I heard the manga was. I really enjoyed watching it. I recommend it for anyone who's played a dating sim before. You don't have to have played one to enjoy the show, but it helps when it comes to inside jokes. I'm willing to continue watching this show until the very end.

Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku - Review Update

Zexcs© & Feel©
Overview
The story revolves around a transfer student named Kohei Hasekura who discovers that his new remote island school, Shuchikan Academy, has a female vampire named Erika Sendo within its student body. Another Romantic Anime based around Vampires. Highly over done these days. As long as they don't sparkle, I'll watch it. It's also based on a adult visual novel.

Episode 1
Such a nice romantic anime that ends in a dark mysterious way. I'm pretty sure that's the point of an anime that coves both Romance and Vampire genres. The episode itself did a pretty good job introducing all the characters and even gives you an idea about each of their personalities.  So far the show is starting off quite good. Looks like this show is another one that has short bonus scenes after each of the credits.

Episode 2
The girl with the pet rabbit reminds me a lot of the twin sister from Yosuga no Sora. I think it's the hair style and the hair color is similar as well. This episode forshadows something unusual about the main character. I can see a pretty crazy plot twist coming into play half way through the storyline.

Episode 3
I kinda think it's funny that the Japanese version of Vampire is like Blade. They can walk around in the daylight without any problems, ignore garlic allergies, have reflections, and are pretty much normal. Well, except for their blood sucking. They also seem to have inhanced strength and speed, but not all the time. I guess it depends on the story. Anyway, the episode is kinda confusing. It's a bit hard to explain without spoiling much. You'll just have to watch it and judge for yourself.

Wrap Up
As an over did genre combination, this show doesn't seem too bad so far. I didn't care much for how they took the possible villain and dark undertone and changed it in the third episode making it more low key and changing the villain to an ally without any confertation. I personally don't watch Anime like this, so it's hard for me to judge if this is a good show or not. As someone who hasn't seen it, I didn't mind it much. I wouldn't recomend it unless you were bored and/or ran out of other Anime to watch. It's something I wouldn't wait around to see weekly.

Invasion! Squid Girl - Review Update

Diomedea©
Overview
Also known as; Shinryaku! Ika Musume. The sea in the world has been polluted. All sort of trash were thrown into thesea, making it upleasant deep under the sea. One of the inhabitants of the sea, Ika Musume (Squid Girl) seeks to exact revenge on humanity for throwing trash into the sea. I'm not too sure about this one. Sounds like an anti-oil spill anime. However, the picture I found of it made the show look adorable. I'm not too interested in it, but I'll give it a try. Might actually involve fighting and what not. Too early to tell at this point.

Episode 1
Yeah, I don't know how to even review this. It's three episodes packed into one. Pretty much about the squid girl showing up to conqure some beach resturant and through random comical events ends up working there. That seems to be the basis of the entire show.

Episode 2
I can't help but to think that this show reminds me of Lucky Star. It's so random and doesn't really have a storyline. Not to mention the squid girl looks just like the blue haired chick in Lucky Star.  This episode was about life guards, birthdays, and cosplaying.

Episode 3
They actually introduced a character that is afraid of the squid girl. I think it makes the show more interesting this way.

Wrap Up
The show is interesting to watch. It seems to be for all ages. I suggest watching it when you're bored and have nothing better to do. I don't know if I would recommend watching it all in one sitting. There isn't really much of a storyline.

Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls - Review Update

ARMS Corporation©
Overview
In an alternate future, the Tokugawa shogunate never lost power and Japan mainstrained its enforced seclusion from the rest of the world. The 25th shogun assumed the mantle of Japan's leadership 20 years ago, and the student council enforces the suppression of rebellious elements at a giant academy for children of military families at the foot of Mt. Fuiji. This one actually sounds really interesting. It's pretty much old school Samurai within the modern world. I personally love alternate history/timelines stuff, and look forward to seeing how well done this turns out. Judging from the name, it's probably going to be a bit Ecchi too. Which can be a good thing, but also can take away from the seriousness of the show.

Episode 1
The artwork reminds me of the video game Okami. It also has ink splatters on the screen which give it a 3D feel. Quite impressive in my opinion. This first episode is a prolouge to the series. It's actually really well done. Starts with the end, does the backstory and ends with the introduction of some samurai girl. Pretty interesting so far.

Episode 2
Interesting story development. This episode was more comical than the first one. It's based around everyone trying to figure out who the new samurai girl is. I also like to point out that the ninja maid's glasses work the same as the scouters in DBZ.

Episode 3
This episode forshadows a possible villain as well as a more complex storyline. I'm starting to see what's going to be happening. Is the mysterious samurai girl a hero or actually a villain?

Wrap Up
Other than being a border line Echii anime, this seems to have a pretty complex storyline. The art style is like an ink painting and the random blots of ink covers any nudity or blood. I'm guessing they did this to keep the rating down. It's an interesting show, but I don't know if I would recommend it. It's too hard to tell, even with seeing three episodes. Just too many questions and so many paths for the storyline to take. I say give it a couple more episodes before you decide if you should keep watching it or not. It's worth checking out just to see the art style.

Shaman King - Manga Review Update

Viz Media©
Volume 16
So much happens in this volume. I'll try to keep the spoilers to a minume. Not only is there a couple of fights, but there's also a lot of background storytelling. It helps with the development of the key characters. Also there's a twist thrown in that makes you wanna just keep reading.  The plot thickens as Hao tries to recruit Ren, the X-Laws try to recruit Yoh, Hao's spirit miduim and true power is show, and Yoh tells everyone about the connection he has with Hao. You'll have to read it all to find out about these events in detail as well as anything else that may have happen that I left out.

Volume 17
This volume makes me wonder if people wrote Hirouki Yakei and complained about how quick the battles have been in the past couple of volumes. There was some intense fights and they happen outside of the tourniment. It looks like Hao's minions are making their move and attacking Ren's team. The plot is laid. The mana levels are reveled. How will Yoh and company survive this battle? We'll just have to read on and find out.

Volume 18
I'm kinda dissapointed in this volume. Mainly because it came with a free trip to Japan if I had bought the manga 3 or 4 years ago. It's no longer vailed. I also didn't care for the fact that a main character had kicked the bucket, but like a lot of manga these days, they found a way to bring him back. Some of you may see this as a spoiler, but I'm really getting fed up with that happening. Dragon Ball over did it, and now a lot of other manga seem to be finding ways to keep characters alive, because of their fan base. I know it's sad when awesome characters die, but that's what makes it realistic and what drives the other characters to get stronger. More is at stake when you don't know you can be brought back to life. I also thought that the two weakest people having the strongest ability was a bit lame. I've seen that done a ton of times too. It's a good way to balance it out, but even the game Twisted Metal did it. Weakest people having the strongest special is just so over done these days. Of course one could argue that everything has already been done. This is true, but it's nice to see things that are not done in every other manga that I'm reading. I want to see a verity. You know?

Volume 19
There really isn't much to say about this volume. The entire volume is a flash back. It even has flash backs within the flash backs. Don't worry, it's not too complicated. It coves the time when Yoh met Anna. It also has flash backs of the final battle in the last Shaman Fight. It seems like a cat spirit was the one that delt the final blow to Hao 500 years ago. The next volume continues the flashback. Let's keep reading and find out what happens.

Volume 20
The end... Well, sort of. I'm guessing this is where the anime ended. The first half of the story is over. Starting with the next volume it's the next stage in the story. A most interesting plot twist has changed the course of the storyline. What will happen next? It's hard to forsee right now. The only real way is to continue reading. However, I have no other volumes and currently no money to get them. I feel since this is the end of the first series, it's also a good place to stop and put Shaman King on hold. It may be a few months or even a year before I'll have the money to pick up the rest of the story and the time to read them. I may not do any more reviews. I think doing a review of the first series is enough to get people to read it. I might do a review on the anime, but I haven't decided yet. However, on the bright side, I can now work on some other manga. Thank you friends who give me their old manga that they no longer want. It's the one good thing about friends who move and/or get married and/or grow up.

Yosuga No Sora - Review Update

Feel©
Overview
Haruka Kazugano and his twin sister Sora have found childhood memories of going to the viilage to visit their grandfather during their summer vacations. However, after losing their parents in an accident, the two must move in with their grandfather. This sounds like a good old fashion Slice of Life story. Probably have quite a few Flash Backs to help tell the story. Might be pretty cute to watch. My prediction is that it's only going to be 12 ~ 13 episodes.

Episode 1
Um... Wow. Not what I was expecting. First thing I notice is that his twin sister is a bitch. After that I started noticing that every female in the entire town thinks Haruka is God's gift to women. By the end of the episode even his twin sister is trying to bone him. I thought this would be a cute slice-of-life anime, but it's actually just like a dating sim, but in anime form. It's even pretty mature. After the first set of credits there is another short bonus episode clip with it's own set of credits.

Episode 2
This episode was slightly better. It showed more school life and did a bit of backstory on some of the characters. The twin sister still has a "I'm the only girl for you" complex with her twin brother, but they did introduce another male character. There was a bonus short clip after the credits in this episode as well. I'm guessing it's going to be like that for every episode, so make sure you watch the credits!

Episode 3
More backstory! Yay! Looks like a relationship has developed between Haruka and someone else. I wonder how this will affect everyone else? I guess you'll have to watch the rest of the series to find out.

Wrap Up
Even though this show was nothing like what I thought it would be, it still ended up being prettying good. It may have it's ecchi/mature parts, but it's got an interesting Romance theme to it. Episode 3 is where the story actually starts picking up though, so it's hard to give it a final opinion. From what I say, this is a good Romance anime for guys. I also did some research and found out that this is Anime is really based off of a PC game. It's a Visual Novel and it has the same name as the Anime, so if you're interested feel free to Google it.

RED - Review

DC Entertainment©
Overview
RED is a live action adaption of a DC graphic novel called, RED (Obviously). I personally haven't read the graphic novel, but went and saw the movie anyway. I like the people who are in the movie and figured that DC's live action movies haven't been too bad, so this one might be just as good as the others.

Summary
It's about retired CIA agents who are trying to figure out why someone wants them dead after being out of the job for so long. They team up and blow up things up. They are the best of the best, and prove that just because they're old doesn't mean they don't have what it takes to get the job done.

Wrap Up
The movie was actually really entertaining. It's PG-13, so it was TOO action packed, but it had enough in it to make you glad you went and saw the movie. At least that's how I felt. I went with friends (which is rare) and really enjoyed it. I'm glad it wasn't over the top action, and I'm thankful that it wasn't horribly lame. I would like to check out the graphic novel sometime.

Otome Youkai Zakuro - Review Update

J.C. Staff©
Overview
The fox-eared girls living in the youkai part of town are about to be put to work together with a delegation of young human soliders, to promote interracial understanding. So when will happen when Zakuo's strong personality collides with human sensibilities? This one can go two ways. It can be a Romantic Comedy, or it can be filled with Drama, War, and Fighting. I couldn't find enough information on it right now. I'm pretty interested in this one, so I'll be looking forward to the actual episodes. I want to see which direction it will take.

Episode 1
Pretty interesting concept. This episode was very entertaining and made me laugh a few times. I also enjoyed the character introductions and relationship development. However, the battle towards the end of the episode was a real disappointed. It reminded me of Star Driver, in where it was a one hit kill. Hopefully the next episode has a bit more of a battle.

Episode 2
So this episode shows how scared humans are of spirits and how much Japan is trying to be like America. It has it's pros, but they're forgetting their own culture in the process. It makes an excellent point. I also figured out that the lack of action is based around the fact that this pretty much has a romance undertone to it.

Episode 3
This episode shows that there might actually be a or some villains. It also shows that not all spirits are friendly or scared. There are some that are very dangerous and even eat humans! However, there's still not much action in it and it still has that drama/romance undertone.

Wrap Up
This show wasn't what I was expecting. It's still pretty good, but I thought it was going to have battles, action, fighting, and possibly war in it. It's pretty much based around the relationships between humans and spirits. I would say it's a good show if you're into not much action. Sometimes we all just need a bit more romance in our lives. I suggest this one for all those of  you who want a break from the action anime and/or want a bit more romance in your lives.

Site News #002

October 19, 2010
Site Related
The site has been up for a few weeks now. From the looks of things, it's starting to really come together. I still need to work on the color scheme and create a good banner, but so far it's not bad. I finally got a good system for doing the reviews and I've even been adding links at the end of each one. Hopefully, you guys will enjoy this system and find it easy to follow. The chat box is running, but I guess some people say it's cut off for them. I use Chrome and it doesn't cut off for me, so I'm not sure if it's your browser or the fact that you're not logged in. You can double click on the top of the chat and it'll full screen for you. The forum is still not active, but I'll get around to doing that sooner or later. I've been just a bit busy in real life. Family is moving in, a friend is visiting, and I've been sick. Not to mention a new group of Anime and TV Shows just started, so I'll be busy reviewing them. I'm thinking about doing a list of Genres. What do you guys think?

Anime Related
Fall 2010 season has officially started. That means I have a lot to watch and quite a few reviews to do. I've already started, but due to my internet acting up, it's taking me a lot longer then I thought it would. Please be patient as I will review all the new anime ASAP.

Manga Related
A lot of you have suggested Manga for me to review, but I'll only review Manga that I've actually bought. I wont go out of my way to read it online, unless it's not available here in the USA. That means this section will not be updated as often as it could be. However, a friend of mine is giving me their old manga, so you guys should complain too much. I'll have a good amount of reviews by the end of the year and you'll just have to wait for me to make enough money to buy more. Currently, I'm really into Shaman King and I apologies for so many reviews on just that.

Game Related
This section will take awhile to update. I will need time to actually play through the games before I review them. I also haven't figured out a good system yet for reviewing games. However, I have played through quite a few games during the summer and hope to get those reviews up soon. Hopefully, the game stays fresh in my mind long enough for me to give good detailed reviews.

TV Show Related
I don't watch much TV. In fact, I hardly ever watch TV. I was big into watching shows back in the 90's, then Toonami, and of course early Adult Swim. Sadly, it didn't last long. TV just isn't as good as it use to be, but I will hunt down and search for worth while shows to do reviews on. I'm really glad Hulu was created. It allows me to watch shows, whenever I get the chance, and not worry about missing the show when it's aired on normally. This might be the smallest section, due to the lack of awesome shows. Oh, before I forget. Don't bother to recommend a show that's already into the 3rd or 4th season. I refuse to jump into a middle of a show and do a review when I have no idea what's going on.

Marvel Anime - Iron Man Review

Madhouse©
Overview
Anime version of Iron Man. It's probably going to be better done then the American version, because it's pretty much a Mecha show. Most of you would probably understand that Japan does an excellent job with Mecha related shows and so them doing an Iron Man show makes sense. At least to me it does.

Episode 1
Pretty interesting. It's all about Tony Stark going to Japan to promote a Japanese version of Iron Man. It seems that Mr. Stark is retiring and wants to have people take over for him and keep the world safe. However, an orginization called Zodiac steals the new suit and Tony Stark is back in action as Iron Man.

Episode 2
This show has a lot more action in it then I thought it would. This episode does a good job keeping you at the edge of your seat. However, it still has the American cartoon feel, but just done in anime art style to it. However, the combination seems to be doing well for itself.

Episode 3
It's good to know that the show is still got that American knowledge behind it. This episode is about the tornados killing off professors. The other professors think it's from their old research on the Tesla project. Last I checked, Tesla relating projects weren't about Tornados. I was hoping the Japanese would do a bit more research for their storylines, but maybe they wanted to keep it as close to the American version as possible?  Alright, they did explain close to the end of the episode and I guess it does kinda make sense. I'll let the Tesla thing slide.

Wrap Up
All in all, the show is pretty decent. I was hoping it would be done better then it was, but at least it wasn't horrible. Pretty much the normal show you would see on Cartoon Network, but done in Anime form. Sadly, we no longer have Toonami. This would have been perfect for it. Do I recommend this? Eh... Sure. If you have nothing better to do, then watch the show. It's not bad, but it's nothing to brag about. I hear it's only going to be 12 episodes, so might as well watch all of it.

Psychic Detective Yakumo - Review Update

Bee Train©; Sogo Vision©; NHK©
Overview
Yakumo Saitou was born with different eye colors. His red left eye gave him a special ability to see ghosts and spirits. Being asked for help by Haruka Ozawa, he usses his power to help him solve cases. I think this has been done a few times. Not in anime, but in live action American shows. I remember hearing about a few shows like this. Like Ghost Whisper or whatever it was called. Hopefully it's not too bad.

Episode 1
This first episode was really well done. It's got me interested in watching more. It's about a guy who can see ghosts and helps this girl out. They explained how he can see ghosts and they even through in a twist at the end of the episode that will give it a possible villain. Every good story needs a main villain. A mastermind behind the mysterious that the hero solves.

Episode 2
This episode showed that not all of the episode will be based around murders, but can also be about ghosts who wait to see their love ones before departing to the afterlife. The show itself is actually really interesting. I love how they always show quick scenes of the main villains at the end of the episodes. You just know something is going to happen sooner or later.

Episode 3
The plot thickens. This episode shows that Yakumo can't save every ghost. Remember, all he can do is see them and nothing more.

Wrap Up
Overall this anime has a very interesting concept. It's like most dective shows involving ghost, but throws in scenes involving another group of people who also can see ghost. The main adjective of this group is still unknown, but it gives you the impression that some serious shit is going to go down sooner or later. The show does a good job keeping the watcher interested as well as showing different types of cases. It's not the same thing over and over again. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes a good crime solving show.

Star Driver Kagayaki No Takuto - Review Update

BONES©
Overview
On a cross-shaped island in the South, a mysterious and gigantic humanoid robot known as the "Cybuddy" is discovered sealed in the underground ruins. The Order of the Glittering Star Cross abducts a girl named Wako Agemaki, the key to activating the robot. A boy named Takuto Tsunashi arrives with his own Cybuddy named Tauburn to rescue her. Sounds like a pretty basic giant robot anime to me. Judging from the sound of it, it could either be like Gundam, or Gurren Lagann. I hoping it's the later. It'll be interesting to see that kind of scale along with the comedy mixed together again. I however don't have very high hopes for this. Reason being; Most Mecha Anime shows are pretty much the same.

Episode 1
I was expecting something way different. The show starts off like a normal high school anime. I thought I had the wrong episode at first. It quickly changes and shows some kind of cult that goes on under the school. Looks like all the school staff and most of the students are involve in some way. The mecha battle didn't make any sense and it ended way to fast. It was a simple one strike and it's over. I'm not to sure about this show right now, but I have to give it the usual three episode trial.

Episode 2
I'm glad they started to explain things in this episode. The fight was a lot better. It wasn't a simple one hit win. There might be hope yet. Sadly I woudn't like this if it was over half a season long. I can't see enough storyline to drive it for a full 26 episodes. At least not yet.

Episode 3
I don't understand. The main character comes equip with fighting abilities, an energy blast move, and duel swords. Where did he get them? How did he learn how to use them? Why is he so good at what he does? This who has a lot of unanswered questions, but I suppose that's the point. The storyline isn't too special. It's almost like they're just half-assing the storyling to have an excuse to do a 1-vs-1 mecha battle in each episode with everyone just standing around watching.

Wrap Up
Yeah.... I don't have much to say about this show. I wouldn't recommended it. It's got an interesting concept, but it didn't get it's point across within three episodes. They don't really do any character development either, so you really can't feel for any of the characters during the not planned out very well storyline. I was hoping this show would be halfway decent, but it looks like I'll just have to try out the other mecha anime that started and leave this for anyone who is super bored.

Bakuman. - Review Update

J.C.Staff©
Overview
Moritaka Mashiro is an average 9th grade student but talented artist, and Akito Takagi, an overall advanced 9th grader and aspiring writer. Takgi convinces Mashiro to join him in becoming the greatest mangakas Japan has ever seen. Takagi, with his gift of writing, hopes to become a sucessful mangaka, and Mashiro, with his gift of art, hopes to mary the girl of his dreams, Azuki Miho. I'm looking forward to this one. I truly enjoy Otaku Anime shows and wanted to see another one based around making Manga.

Episode 1
Took me four hours to get this episode to load. My internet really gets to me sometimes. Anyway, the story sounds really interesting so far. This show had two openings and I'm not sure why. Moritaka Mashiro's uncle was a manga artist that died, or something like that. Moritaka Mashiro gave up on being a manga artist until Akito Takagi found a way to get him to want to do it again. I like how they talk about other manga and anime in the show.

Episode 2
Ooooo~ This episode is pretty exciting. It's all about him trying to convince his family to let him follow his dream. I liked it. It's touching and exciting at the same time. It makes me wanna watch the next episode as soon as possible!

Episode 3
And so it begins. Now that all the backstory is done, the real story starts. Starting next episode they will start creating their own manga. The backstory was actually pretty interesting and it shows that history tends to repeat itself.

Wrap Up
I really enjoy this anime. I'll admit that I have a special place in my heart for Otaku anime, but this one is well done. They did a good job with the backstory, character development, and showing how hard it is to actually be a manga creator. You put a lot of work into it before the final is shown to the world. If you love manga, an artist, or just love otaku anime, then I suggest you watch this.

MM! - Review Update

Xebec©
Overview
Taro Sado is a normal high school boy who discovered a side of himself that is into masochism. Even as he triest to hide his side from his high school crush, he tries to fix it through his school's "2nd Volunteer Club." Meh. I don't know what to say about this. The main character sounds like a pussy.

Episode 1
WOW! I really don't know what to say. This is indeed an extremely comical anime. I surprised myself by enjoying the show. I thought it was just going to be about some weak male character who gets beat up by girls and enjoys it, but there's actually a lot more to it then that. The club deals with many different people who all have different issues that they want to fix about themselves. The show is really about just accepting yourself and accepting your friends for who they are. Everyone has a secret or issue that they don't like about themselves. Pretty good concept if you ask me.

Episode 2
This episode is based around forming backstories behind another character in the club. The story seems to keep the comedy feel, but throws in a bit of drama. It's not a bad show at all. I'm enjoying it so far. Looks like they're going to introduce another chacter. I hope the show continues being as good as it is. I need a good laugh every now and then.

Episode 3
This episode is pretty good. It's different from the others and shows that the main character can actually be a badass. There's fighting and everythign in it. This is quite the show to be able to pull off genre crossing and have it actually make sense storyline wise.

Wrap Up
I'll admit my first impression of this show was wrong. I didn't think it would turn out as good as it was. It really didn't need three episodes to do a review, but I felt it would only be fair. This is one of those shows that if you don't care for it after the first episode then you might as well drop it. However, I can see this becoming pretty popular even though it has an unusal group of characters. If you ignore all their weird fetishes, the story is got some really good morals. It's all about helping people. I highly suggest it.

Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt - Review Update

Gainax©
Overview
At first glance this reminded me of Cartoon Cartoon. A friend of mine, Ty, mentioned that it was like Power Puff Girls, but in anime form. That was enough to get me interested in watching and reviewing the show.

Episode 1
This show really IS like the Power Puff Girls, but made for adults. It's so crazy that it's almost worth watching. I wouldn't recommend anyone under 17 to watch it though. It's pretty sexual, but not porn. I think it actually one ups South Park. Then again, I've only seen a few South Park episodes. The art style randomly changes when the transform into their angel forms to take out the evil spirit. It's almost disturbing, but I think that's because they're on stripper poles when they do their transformation. I did find it pretty funny though. It's really hard to judge this from just the first episodes, because it's so crazy.

Episode 2
Right, so there isn't really a concestent storyline, but there seems to be an overall plot. It's about two angels whore fight ghosts to earn heaven currency, but they haven't actually said what the currency is for yet. I do love the fact that whenver they defeat a ghost, the graphics change to real life clay graphics and they have the clay version of the ghost explode.

Episode 3
I'm pretty sure the show is becoming more adult related. This episode would never be shown on television here in the USA. I really don't know what else to say.

Wrap Up
The show is insanly random, adult themed, and yet funny in it's own immature way. I wouldn't recommend it unless you enjoy that kind of thing. I personally don't, but that's just me. I know a couple of people who enjoy the show, so I have to say that my final verdict will be... Watch the first episode and if you like it, keep going. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine. I'll be reviewing the other new anime and hopefully one of them will be what you're looking for. I also learned that the coins are so Panty & Stocking can get back into heaven. I guess they were kicked out and if they collect enough coins, they can return.

Shaman King - Manga Review Update

Viz Media© & Shonen Jump©
Shaman King #11
This volume is filled with many different things. I'll try to keep the spoilers to a minume. The one thing I don't like about it, is that there's a Vampirer that they have to fight and that just doesn't make any sense when you're talking about a fight among Shamans. Ryu has his first serious battle since his training with Yoh's Grandfather. The Path Tribe gave everyone a three months to make it to their village, but it seems like Yoh & Company manage to get to the entrence in only five days. The volume of course ends in a clif hanger. I'm interested in seeing what they're going to do for the remainder of the three months.

Shaman King #12
If you're running low on cash, this would be a good place to stop for awhile. It ties up some loose ends and ends in a way that makes me feel like it would be the end of the first season. There's still a lot of questions to be answered, but they made it to the village. The first major arc is completed. My guess is the next volume is going to be after a three month time jump. Since they only took five days to make it to the enterence. They're not in the village itself, but I can see the next volume starting off with them in the village and then doing flash backs to show how they made it through the maze. The events that happen in this volume really makes me wonder if Hiroyuki Takei had this all planned out or if he's just going with the flow. Starting to really enjoy how complex the story is becoming.

Shaman King #13
Took me awhile to get ahold of this volume. None of the bookstores I went to had it. I manage to make enough money off this site to order it online. Thank you everyone who clicked the ads! It really does help. Anyway, this volume marks the start of Part 2 in the Shaman Fight. Which just so happens to be a 3-vs-3 tourniment. With 63 contestants still around, who will make it to the finals? The fights are starting to get exciting. Everyone had the chance to train for two months before the toruniment started, so you know they are all powered up. I just love to see everyone's new moves.

Shaman King #14
Not a lot to say about this volume. It covers more of the 3-vs-3 tourniment and with the way things are going, I'll say it'll be a few volumes before the finals. The fights are not super intense, but they did do a good job introducing another villain as well as the background story behind her. I also like how people are actually starting to die off now too. There has been a few deaths throughout the series, but it's more obvious and common now. I guess that's what you get for sticking evil people in a fighting compitition for the chance to become Shaman King of the entire world.

Shaman King #15
This was a real fun volume for me. Other than Shamans, I have a thing for Vikings and Druids. Both are shown in this fight with Yoh's team. I was overly interested while reading for that sole reason. Well.... That and the power ups that they showed. Yoh's team really did get super powered up, but I'm dissapointed in the fact that they showed everything right off in the begining. Hiroyuki Takei should have saved it for a surprise during one of the more important battles. However after reading it, I can see why he wanted to show it off. I'm sure Hiroyuki Takei was just as excited drawing the manga as I was reading it. I'm looking forward to see what else is in store for Yoh and company. Even more now that Ren deiceded to run off and attain a new ability on his own. Will he finally be stronger than Yoh? I guess we'll have to keep reading to find out!

No Ordinary Family - Review

Tuesdays at 8:00/7:00c on ABC

Overview
I found this show by accident. I was surfing around for super hero stuff (mostly Marvel related). After reading a short summary about the show, I decided to give it the usual three episode chance. My first impression was The Incredibles meets Heroes. This of course was more than enough to make me want to watch it.

Episode 1
The pilot episode was actually really well done. They did a good job showing the dysfunctional family going on a vacation, and having a horrible life/death situation happen. You would think that it would bring them together as a family, but it didn't. At least not in the long run. It was the development of super powers that did it.

Episode 2
This episode covers how they adapt to normal life with their new found super powers. Each having their own issues with the power and learning how to cope with it. Pretty realistic, as far as super hero shows go.

Episode 3
The family continues trying to balance out everyday life and super powers. The episode does a good job showing how the family is still having problems, and having powers is making things a bit more complicated. The daughter craves for the chance to be normal again, but I personally don't see what the big deal is. It's clearly shown in the first episode that she didn't have much of a life before the powers. She went from no life to no life, but with the ability to read minds when she wanted to. I can't stand people in shows, games, and comics that have super powers, but complain about them.

Wrap Up
The show isn't too bad. It's a family show, so there isn't as much action as there can be, but to be fair the show is just getting started. I can see this being at least a few seasons long. With the random showings that there might be others out there with powers, they can do a lot plot wise. Villains and allies are some of the more given plot twist I can see happening. If you like super hero stuff, than I say you should give this one a chance. I wont make a final verdict until I see more. I'm still worried it might flop/cancel. ABC seems to be famous for that.

House, Season 7 - Review

Mondays at 8:00pm PST/7:00c on Fox

Overview
I'll admit, I'm not a House expert. I've only seen a handful of episodes. Usually when I was at a friend's house. I just recently started the 7th season, because I had always liked the show and wanted to see what was going on now. I think the last episode I seen was in either season 4 or maybe 5. It was a couple of years ago if I'm remembering correctly. If you're like me, you don't really need to see the other seasons to know what's going on, but it does help. House is an asshole who has a team of doctors that specialize in figuring out what's wrong with a patient when no one else knows. With that knowledge you can jump in and enjoy the show. However, I do suggest checking out the other seasons if you're interested in the personal relationships and developments among the characters.

Episode 1
This episode wasn't too exciting. It covered the newly developed relationship of House and Cuddy. It also foreshadowed something going on with Thirteen. Really not much as a starter to a season, but I guess it fits since the last season ended with them together or something like that.

Episode 2
This episode tackles the conflicts that come up from House and Cuddy being in a relationship while still being in the work environment. As many of you might know, Cuddy is House's supervisor/boss. I'm sure that can get quite awkward and they did an excellent job showing it.

Episode 3
House is a big fan of an Author who gets checked into the ER, because she tried committing suicide. He spends the majority of the episode trying to find the manual script of her latest book, so he could read it. The show also tackles the fact that House and Cuddy have nothing in common outside of work. House is trying to find some kind of common ground and so he takes her out on a couple of dates. Which prove quite entertaining for the viewer.

Wrap Up
The season started off a bit too slow for me, but Episode 3 proved that it's getting back into the groove of things. I'm really looking forward to watching this show on a daily basis and hope the season continues to get better and better. However, I have a small amount of fear that they will drag the show on longer than it needs to be and ruin it. I've seen a lot of shows do that, but so far House seems to keep the watchers entertained by throwing in plot twists and new interesting cases. I recommend everyone who enjoys doctor shows to check out House, if you haven't already.

FlashForward - Review

ABC©

FlashForward is a show about the entire world blacking out and seeing their future. It mostly revolves around a FBI agent,  Mark Benford, and his hazy drunk vision of the future. In his vision he saw himself working on figuring out what caused the black out, but due to the fact of his heavy drinking he can only remember a few clues. Using these clues he starts on his investigation. The show itself makes a lot of sense as things get revealed and questions become answered. Sadly, the show itself was cancelled. However, they were nice enough to give us a good ending episode that answered a lot of questions and felt like a good end for the season. It didn't answer all the questions and  left it off for another season, but as of right now, there wont be any. You can join the Facebook page to support the show coming back for another season. You can also buy the season on DVD to show your support. I've heard some people are boycotting ABC except for the reruns of FlashForward. In all honesty, FlashForward is probably one of the best Sci-Fi shows I've ever seen on TV. It was really well done and actually makes sense if you know a bit about quantum physics. Not that I'm an expert, but it's obvious the people did their research.

Digimon Xros Wars - Review

Toei Animation©
I'm a sucker for Digimon. I've been into it since before there was even a show. I still have the original Digimon Device where you raised a Digimon and then connected it to other Digivices to battle. However, it always died after 30 days of "old" age. This Digimon season is the first season to ever get rid of the different evolution stages. There's no longer Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, and Mega. Instead there's just the Digimon themselves and they have the ability to fuse together to form a combination type Digimon. Usually one of the Digimon is the main personality and it receieves power ups from the others. Within the first couple of episodes I notice there's a lot of Mecha references as well as music based attacks. The story itself is pretty interesting. There's other children with Digivices, but they're not all on a team nor are they even friends. They are all fighting each other for control of the Digiworld. Once someone conqures an area they gain a Data-Crown. This pretty much tells everyone else that they own that region. If you collect all the Data-Crown pieces then you become the Digimon King. There's a lot of battles and so far it hasn't been the basic digivolve and end the battle with one move. They actually use differnet stradagy and take on entire armies.  I personally really like this season and hope it stays as good as it has been so far.

Pokemon: Crystal - Review

Nintendo©

Crystal starts off just like any other Pokemon game. You get a starter, learn about the Pokedex, and then start off on your journey. While collecting badges you also level up 6 pokemon of your choosing to challenge the 8 gyms. Each gym leader you defeat gives you 1 badge. Collect all 8 and you can challenge the Elite 4. While you're running around collecting badges and Pokemon, you're also fighting Team Rocket. They have once again tried to take over the world or some junk and you, a child, stop them in their tracks.

As always, it's a bit challenging getting started. Once you gain a few levels and found some Pokemon that are not bug type, the game starts getting easier. After defeating the 8 gyms, you move on to fight the Elite 4. They guys are a bit tough, but not as much as I originally thought. Once you figure out what they are weak against, you can pretty much one shot all of them.  Then after you defeat the Elite 4, you challenge the current Pokemon Champion. Which, to my surprise wasn't Red (from the original game), but someone else.

After claiming the title of Champion you get access to the Kento region, which is the area in the original games. You can run around collecting the badges here and a few Pokemon that weren't availble in the starting region. The gym leaders are really easey. I think their Pokemon are lower levels then the Elite 4. This was a disapointment. There's no fun in one shotting everything for the 2nd half of the game. However, I did like the fact that you can fight Blue (original game rival). He was slightly harder then the rest, but still manage to rip him a new one.

At this point I'm wondering where YOUR rival is. He kinda just dissapears from the game. Oak allows you acess to Mt Silver. From it's name and your rival's name, I figured you would fight him there. Sadly, you don't. He still isn't in the game. However, you do get to challenge Red at the top. You would think that Red would still be considered Pokemon Champion since no one has defeated him yet, but I guess he was missing during the 3 years in between the 2 games? This is the only real challenging fight. All of Red's pokemon are level 75+. Most of them are in their 80's. I think they did this to give you an excuse to grind. No other reason to power level at this point, except to evolve some Pokemon to fill your Pokedex.
